WiN Romania organizes an the event on the 10th of March 2015 in Bucharest, on the occasion of the celebration of women working in the nuclear field.

The theme of this event is "Woman: Challenges, Roles and Contributions in the field of Nuclear Energy."

The meeting is intended to put together women in the various fields of activities, successful women who will present their experience in a dialog for information and open communication.

Event will take place at the Hotel Marriott Bucharest starting at 12:00.

Please notice the following deadlines for the 2015 WiN Global Conference to be held in Vienna 24th to 28th August:

28 February 2015:

  • Submission of abstracts
  • Submission of grant applications

April 2015:

  • Notification of acceptance

31 May 2015:

  • Submission of full paper (if paper accepted, only request by the IAEA).

The Bulgarian Biomedical Physics and Engineering Society, in cooperation with the Association of Women in Nuclear - Bulgaria, and the Bulgarian Nuclear Society Varna Section, organised in Varna a week dedicated to medical physics, in connection with the International Day of Medical Physics – 7 November.

Recently, lots of modern medical devices have been introduced in medicine both in Bulgaria and worldwide, which necessitates promoting of medical physics, the job of a medical physicist and medical equipment.

In the week 3 - 8 November a number of events were organised in Varna intended for the attention of high school and university students, town inhabitants or visitors.

10th School Competition “40 years Kozloduy NPP – Clean energy” organized by WiN – BULGARIA, Kozloduy

For the tenth successive year the Women in Nuclear – Bulgaria organized a school competition. This year it was dedicated to the historic anniversary of the Bulgarian Nuclear Power Plant and was conducted again under the patronage of the Plant on 26th November 2014.

Five teams from different schools in the towns of Kozloduy, Oryahovo and Belene demonstrated knowledge and skills related to the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

2014 WiN France Award

Cécile Laugier and Dominique Mouillot

The 2014 WiN France award has been delivered to Cecile Laugier.

She is Director of EDF/SEPTEN.

SEPTEN is the engineering uniy in charge of projects and studies for thermal and nuclear plants whith an expertise on nuclear safety and new projects. This unit establishes the doctrine, methods and tools for the design of nuclear facilities and materials. It provides a demonstration of the safety of these facilities and equipment, from design to implementation to final shutdown. It ensures consistency of nuclear fuels and optimize their use in the reactor. It prepares the means of production of the future (Generation III and IV).

IAEA sponsored participants of the 2014 WiN Global Conference

IAEA support of the participation of female nuclear professionals in the 22nd WiN Global Conference in Sydney, Australia

For several years, the IAEA’s Department of Technical Cooperation has sponsored the participation of female nuclear professionals in WiN Global conferences. This year, 20 women were identified by TC for sponsoring. Unfortunately, one of them could not obtain a visa, so the total number of TC-sponsored participants was 19.

WiN Global 2014 Sydney

altThe 22nd WiN Global Conference took place at Cockle Bay Warf in Sydney from 21-22 October 2014. It was preceded by the WiN Global Executive and Board meetings on 20 October. The conference was opened by WiN Global President Se-Moon Park, WiN Australia President Jasmin Craufurd-Hill and ANSTO CEO Adi Paterson. This year’s WiN Global Award went to Margaret Elcombe, a scientist and poet from ANSTO. The WiN Global 2014 Honorary Award was awarded to Gabriele Voigt, IAEA Director, in recognition for her outstanding contributions towards the cause of Women in Nuclear. Unfortunately, Ms Voigt could not participate personally in this year’s conference.
